Chris Newlin grew up in the Methodist Church. He clearly remembers the choir trips, summer camps and MYF events that exposed him to the wonderful breadth and depth of Methodist tradition and a variety of worship styles and practices. As a lifelong Methodist, he is dismayed by what he sees as the hijacking of a moderate and loving church of Grace by a small but vocal fundamentalist faction of the church who are often supported by secular political interests. As a father and grandfather, he would like to see the church brought back to the balanced Wesleyan foundation of scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. He has found it disheartening for the broader community to observe the church as an exclusive and intolerant institution that has become irrelevant to people hungry for the love and compassion of Christ.
Chris has a background in broadcast television, and owns a company centered around communication, public relations, marketing and multi-media production.
